In 1994, the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) issued a grant to the City of Point Arena to launch the City's used oil recycling program.  Today, the CIWMB continues to contribute funding to the operation of the used oil program.

Do-It-Yourself oil changers can pick up free containers at the used oil shack, located on Port Street next to the local automotive shop.  When you have finished changing your oil,  cap off the oil container (seal it tight...we don't want any spills) and set it in the containment bin located in the oil shack at the drop off site.   Pick up an empty one for your next oil change.

If you aren't able to bring your used oil to the drop off site, we will pick it up.  Put it in sealed containers, no more than five gallons, and call us at (707) 882-2122 or email us at ptarena@mcn.org

Don't forget to bring your used oil filters and empty motor oil bottles to the drop off site, too.

We only accept used oil at this facility.  Contact  the Mendocino County Solid Waste Management Authority to find out where to take other hazardous liquids and chemicals for proper disposal.
